The NFL’s 2020 training camp has taken place in a proverbial bubble, invisible from us all, instead of how it typically goes, when the team rises up like little islands, like childhood memories in the form of preseason games and training camp practices open to the public and Twitter video highlight clips. Unbeknownst to the general masses, Houston’s Rasputin, Bill O’Brien, has been getting the team prepared for next Thursday night’s opening contest against the Kansas City Chiefs, deciding who he wants to keep going forward.
Today, five weeks of practicing and intrasquad scrimmaging has come to a close. The NFL required its teams to announce final rosters by 3 p.m. CDT yesterday. Your Houston Texans will keep the following 53 players on the active roster to start the season:
Offense:
QB (2): Deshaun Watson, AJ McCarron
RB (3): Duke Johnson, David Johnson, Buddy Howell
FB (1): Cullen Gillaspia
WR (7): Isaiah Coulter, Kenny Stills, Randall Cobb, DeAndre Carter, Will Fuller, Brandin Cooks, Keke Coutee
TE (3): Jordan Akins, Darren Fells, Kahale Warring
T (4): Laremy Tunsil, Tytus Howard, Roderick Johnson, Charlie Heck
G (3): Max Scharping, Senio Kelemete, Zach Fulton

CB (8): Bradley Roby, John Reid, Lonnie Johnson Jr., Vernon Hargreaves III, Phillip Gaines, Keion Crossen, Gareon Conley, Cornell Armstrong
DB (1): Michael Thomas
S (3): Justin Reid, Eric Murray, A.J. Moore

This is the official roster as of this Sunday, before Houston completes their Injured Reserve tinkering. Expect Ejiofor and Coulter to hit IR and Houston to add P.J. Hall and Jon Weeks and maybe Brent Qvale o the active roster.
Other than that, this is pretty much the 53 guys the Texans will send to Arrowhead Stadium to open the NFL’s 2020 campaign on Thursday night against the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
