Fresh off of restructuring David Johnson’s contract, it seems that the team has solidified its dynamic duo in the backfield for next season. In reality, no one could expect DJ to handle the lion’s share of carries at this stage in his career. Ideally, Ingram will serve in a CHUM heavy role while Johnson and possibly a developmental prospect will provide a pass catching aspect to Houston’s offense. Should we expect this? Probably not, but a boy can dream.
Last season, Ingram was squeezed out of a prolific Ravens rushing attack powered by Lamar Jackson, J.K. Dobbins, and Gus Edwards. While coming to Houston was a bit of a surprise, the money invested here doesn’t sting so bad. Ingram’s deal has a decent amount tied to incentives, as Aaron Wilson reported.
New Texans running back Mark Ingram's deal includes $500,000 signing bonus, incentive clause for $250,000 for 750 rushing yards, another $250,000 if he gains 1,000 rushing yards https://t.co/nEmoI8Jfri

It would be fantastic if Ingram hit those markers, but let’s not hold our breaths. All in all, it’s a low cost move that will keep the team afloat in what could be a bleak 2021 season for the Texans. Stay tuned for more free agency updates here at BRB!
