The Texans love their Friday afternoon news dump. This afternoon, it was reported the Texans interviewed former practice squad, break-in-case-of-emergency third quarterback Josh McCown for their open head coaching position.
Texans announce they've 'continued discussions about vacant head coach position with Jim Caldwell and Josh McCown.' Caldwell has interviewed previously

The Texans also had further conversations with Jim Caldwell, who was one of the first candidates the Texans interviewed. This may mean Caldwell, or whoever becomes the head coach, would look to keep McCown on as a member of the coaching staff.
McCown’s meteoric rise from player to interviewing for the head coach makes zero sense. Oh, wait, it makes perfect sense.
Josh McCown on Jack Easterby: "Have a ton of respect for him, just who he is, the kind of man he is, his ability to lead and love and serve people is an attractive quality ... He's got a vision for how he wants an organization to go ... I'm thankful to be a part of it." pic.twitter.com/gXxrgMgk31

From a flat organizational structure to this, we all just want the Texans to be a little bit normal. Hopefully after this weekend, the Texans have their mind made up on the head coaching search, Deshaun Watson gets happy, and we can move on from there.
This is the Houston Texans, though. Nothing is certain.
