It’s all very funny, isn’t it? Despite signing a dozen linebackers this offseason, it wasn’t enough. The Houston Texans ended up needing more. Kamu Gruiger-Hill has been pretty good, but the rest have been miserable. The horde has barely seen the field. Christian Kirksey is washed up and awful in coverage. Zach Cunningham has been benched on third downs, only playing 19 snaps last week.
Yesterday, the Texans claimed Eric Wilson off waivers. Wilson is an intelligent coverage linebacker who is a limited athlete. I wrote about him before free agency kicked off. If you are a sicko, this is your perfect morning read. This sounds bad, but somehow adding Wilson is an improvement. Watch the highlights from his time in Minnesota below.

If you had to guess where Wilson would play, you’d guess it would be Mike linebacker, with Kirksey headed to the bench, or as a nickel linebacker to pair with Gruiger-Hill, or perhaps as Houston’s dime linebacker. That being said, Cunningham has fallen off the face of the Earth; Wilson may replace him. Who knows?
The only thing we do know is that Wilson is a Texan, and he is going to be playing snaps for them this season.
