2021 NFL Free Agency: Texans Expected To Re-Sign Three Restricted Free Agents

Tough, smart, and dependable?

Nick Caserio has been chasing the worm this offseason. He’s already made a slew of moves. He released J.J. Watt, Nick Martin, and Senio Kelemete. He re-signed Buddy Howell. Woo!

And now it’s been reported the Texans will look to keep ALMOST BIG PLAY P.J. Hall, Pharoah Brown, and A.J. Moore.

Hall is a boom-or-bust player. For every almost play he makes, for every play he makes, there are a dozen others where he’s ineffective or blown off the ball. He isn’t someone you want playing every down, but he’s a fine rotational piece.

Brown is probably the best blocking tight end the Texans have ever had. I’m sorry my memory of Benni Joppru is nonexistent. Brown’s ability to be even a pretty good blocker opened up a few plays last year, and he was a barbarian after the catch.

Moore is a fourth or fifth safety, depending on your outlook on life. He has shown the ability to blitz before. Plus, someone has to play special teams.

The Texans are quickly putting themselves at a jumping-off point once free agency begins in two weeks.
