Yesterday, the Texans shocked the world (!!!!!!!!!) by ignoring Matt Schaub and Matt Weston by selecting quarterback Davis Mills in the third round. Then Nick Caserio ignored the philosophy imprinted into his DNA by Bill Belichick by trading back into the third round and selecting Nico Collins. By doing so, Houston lost a fourth and fifth round pick in this year’s draft, and a fourth round pick in 2022.
Houston would have to trade back into the fourth round in order to make a selection today. As Nick Caserio has shown, the Texans may decide to do exactly that. It turns out midround draft picks may not be that important when you sign twelve linebackers and six wide receivers during the free agency period.
