There’s a third wave of free agency after the NFL Draft. Teams can fill in the remaining holes once the final team building exercise has been completed. The scraps remaining get plucked through so teams don’t have to worry about compensatory pick complications. To kick it off, your Houston Texans signed linebacker Neville Hewitt on Friday.
The #Texans are signing former #Jets LB Neville Hewitt, per @AdamSchefter. Had 134 tackles last season.

Hewitt has previously played for the Miami Dolphins and The New York Jets during his six years in the NFL.
Over the last two seasons, Hewitt was a starter for the Jets. Last year was his best season as he notched 134 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 2 sacks and a forced fumble.
With the shift to a 4-3 defense under Lovie Smith, Hewitt could actually be set up for another starting role here. With the current mountain of bodies at the position, there will be no shortage of competition for the team’s newest addition. There’s snaps available. It will be up to Hewitt and the horde of others to go and take it.
