Every year, the start of Houston Texans training camp brings physicals, medical tests and other roster impacting maneuvers. This year is no different with the Texans announcing 8 such moves late yesterday:

Pharaoh Brown and Lonnie Johnson Jr. are alleged to have important roles in the 2021 Houston Texans plans, so hopefully they (along with Cornell Armstrong and DeMarcus Walker) heal up quickly.

Buddy Howell is hoping to fight his way to playing time through a very crowded backfield that includes Phillip Lindsay, Mark Ingram, Rex Burkhead and David Johnson. Missing out on the first 10 days of training camp due to COVID won’t help him any.
Taywan Taylor has a similar task with no less than 11 other wide receivers between him and the field. Even if they are the worst group in the NFL, it’s hard to get better and improve your fortunes when you can’t get on the field. Pending the trade of Randall Cobb, that number will drop by one, but like Howell, missing out on training camp is very unfortunate for Taylor’s hopes and dreams.

Speaking of wide receivers, the Texans parted ways with veteran wide out Donte Moncrief -presumably to make room for Anthony Miller, recently acquired in a trade with the Chicago Bears.
