The chaotic roller coaster of Houston Texans fanship continues to climb, dive, roll, turn and spin. Last week we heard rumors that a trade for Deshaun Watson with the Philadelphia Eagles was imminent.
Yesterday, Watson returned to practice and showed off just how special his playing skills really are, as if anyone forgot.
This is by far the most Watson has done with #Texans during camp. Consistent throwing reps with fans in stands. No full team work yet but Texans are giving a lot of on-field practice time to a franchise QB who supposedly doesn’t want to ever play for them again. #NFL— Brian T. Deshaun Watson is throwing to receivers out here at #Texans camp and, you know this already, but he’s so transparently the best QB on the field. Standing here with @ClintStoerner talking about the difference in his timing with receivers and the touch on his throws. It’s so good.— Brandon Kyle Scott (@brandonkscott) August 9, 2021
Then John McClain issued one of his “all-knowing” decrees...
Watson will never play another down for the Texans.
So, which is it?

Well, it appears - despite anyone’s assertion to the contrary - the future has yet to be written.
On Deshaun Watson: #Texans have not given up on him being their QB this year. They’re not taking lowball offers. This is why they aren’t being overly communicative with teams. Barring a strong offer, Texans brass will to try to get him back into the fold before the season begins.— Charles Robinson (@CharlesRobinson) August 9, 2021
This also begs an entire side-conversation:
With CalJack McEasterby doggedly determined to build a culture of high-character, honorable players in H-Town, do they know something about Watson's off-field storms that we don’t? It certainly makes no sense whatsoever to try and construct a team of Boy Scouts when the Wolf who ate Grandma is at the nucleus. Maybe that’s a topic for another day.
For now, let’s just get to the poll.
Do you want Deshaun Watson to stay or go?

Stay! DW4 needs to retire as a Super Bowl winning Texan!
Go! Trade him now for whatever we can get.
Go, but hold onto him until Houston can trade him for top dollar.
