The bubble pops today for many football players.

Today, teams have until 3 p.m. to trim their roster down to 53 players. Your Houston Texans are currently taking calls for every veteran player they have on their roster, after recently turning Shaq Lawson into a sixth round pick, and have already begun trimming down the roster.

Yesterday the Texans cut: running back Buddy Howell, defensive back Shyheim Carter, quarterback Jeff Driskel, recently signed cornerback Rasul Douglas, tight end Ryan Izzo, guard Danny Isidora, offensive lineman Carson Green, and cornerbacks Cornell Armstrong and Tae Davis.

Houston has to get down to 53, and sign their practice squad by this afternoon. Here’s your open thread to keep track of the cuts as Houston gets down to 53 to finalize their roster for the 53 man roster. It will be updated periodically throughout the day.

UPDATE: Paul Quessenberry and Jordan Steckler have been cut as well.

UPDATE II: After a drought of news, it appears the Texans got busy. Aaron Wilson is reporting Jordan Veasy, Ryan McCollum, Jaleel Johnson, Derek Rivers, Jonathan Owens, Chris Moore, and the recently acquired Ka’Dar Hollmann have been released, with several of those players candidates to join Houston’s practice squad if they pass through waivers unclaimed.

UPDATE III: Here is Rivers McCown’s attempt at a ledger of who’s currently still on the Texans and who has been asked to turn in his playbook.

UPDATE IV: I know many fans were hoping Alex Erickson would make the team. Sadly, that’s not happening.

UPDATE V: Aaron Wilson says Cole Toner has been released.

UPDATE VI: Keke Coutee has joined the fray, forever unable to escape Bill O’Brien’s doghouse, even in memoriam. He is joined by Anthony Auclair, and Joe Thomas. This should be the full list of Texans cuts. We will wait for an update on the final 53 man roster. It looks like Scottie Phillips and Anthony Miller are in.
