Your Houston Texans hired David Culley to be their head coach on January 27, 2021. This marked the first occasion that any organization ever hired Culley to be a head coach. At 65 years old, Culley reached the pinnacle of his profession. Despite the horrible situation he was stepping into, it had to be a tremendously celebratory feeling for Culley and is family.
On Sunday, Culley will lead a team into regular season action for the first time when the Texans open their 2021 season against the Jaguars at NRG Stadium. It stands to reason that’ll be a special moment for Culley as well. Will Culley’s charges give him an early birthday present (he turns 66 next week) and, even if only for a week, allow him to be a guy who can honestly tell his buddies he’s never lost a game as a head coach? We’ll find out soon enough. Here’s how to catch the first game of what should be a memorable football season for Houston fans, whether we like it or not.
