Coming off a 4-12 season, featuring a roster that wasn’t exactly teeming with talent, popular opinion was that the 2021 Houston Texans would, in a word, stink. Hence, they were relegated to a single primetime game on Thursday Night Football this season. But then they looked like a quality football concern in their season opener against the Jaguars. Houston followed that up by looking even better in the first half on the road against the Browns.
But then Tyrod Taylor got hurt, and everything that happened up to that point seemed to wash away in an instant.
Tonight, Davis Mills, a rookie third-round pick out of Stanford, will make his first start in the NFL. If what we saw in the second half in Cleveland a few days ago was any indication, things are about to go quite poorly for the home team. Nevertheless, none of us can see into the future. Perhaps Mills will shock us all and this will be a transformative moment in Houston football history. In the unlikely event that happens, you have to pay attention so you can boast to your friends and family that YOU WERE THERE AND YOU NEVER HAD A DOUBT. Here is what you need to know to witness Thursday Night Football this week.
