Texans - Panthers is your Thursday Night Football game of the week. It’s also the only Houston primetime game this season. This reward brings them the NFL’s best defense, a tackle-breaking offense, and a competent Sam Darnold.
After taking their first lumps of the 2021 NFL season, losing Tyrod Taylor, Danny Amendola, Terrance Mitchell, and Nico Collins, the Texans received somewhat nice news. Anthony Miller will finally suit up after hurting his shoulder against the Green Bay Packers in the first preseason game of the season. The football taketh away, and the football giveth.
Here’s who won’t be playing tonight:

Houston is without their second best player, Justin Reid, who injured his knee in Cleveland. He’s accounted for 60% of the turnovers this pass defense has forced to create stops. Kamu Grugier-Hill is out as well after having his best game of the season. We still haven’t seen Brevin Jordan, and we won’t again tonight. Yeah, and Deshaun Watson is still a ghost haunting the halls.
Here’s who won’t play for Carolina:
WR Shi Smith
A.J. Bouye
Clay Johnston
DT Phil Hoskins
G Michael Jordan
G Deonte Brown
DE Yetur Gross-Matos

Bouye won’t get his revenge coming off of the suspension list, and not big the opportunity to watch Gross-Matos is a bummer, but it will help the interior of Houston’s offensive line.
Kick off is set for 7:20 p.m. CDT tonight.
