Houston Texans open as slight home favorite against Browns in Week 16

We’re back in the win column, and we’re back as favorites for next week!

The Houston Texans won on Sunday. They won a game they badly needed to win if they want to make a legit push for the playoffs. But, more importantly, despite the circumstances, these are the kinds of games that good teams find a way to win.

This could be one of those games that we point to at the start of a championship window as a turning point in the Houston Texans’ near-future fortunes. Will it be? Hell, I don’t know, I’m not a psychic. But I really want to believe it. And with the Baltimore Ravens beating the Jacksonville Jaguars, putting them even for the AFC South championship, with three games left to go, this could be the spark of something big.

Now, let’s check out the opening odds for next week’s game against the Cleveland Browns and the cowardly quarterback Deshaun Watson, brought to you by DraftKings Sportsbook.

Opening Odds for Week 15

Points

FAVORED: Houston Texans (-2.5)

UNDERDOG: Cleveland Browns (+2.5)

Note: For those of you who aren’t aware of the meaning, the points are a handicap system. So in this case, imagine the game and before the kickoff even happens, someone has spotted the Browns 2.5 points.

So basically a point line, in this case, is giving the Browns a 2.5-0 head start. And the Texans have to win by at least three points to beat the spread. If they beat the Browns by three or more points, the Texans win the bet. Since the line is 2.5 points there is no chance for a push.

Over/Under: 42

Note: This one is pretty straightforward. You decide whether you think the total combined score will be more or less than 42 points.

Moneyline:

BESFs (+114)
Houston Texans (-135)

Note: This one is a little more complicated. The best way to imagine it is if you have $100 to bet initially. If you bet your $100 on the Browns and they win the game, you get $214 (your initial $100, plus the $114 from the win). If you take the Texans moneyline, you have to bet $135 to win $100 for a total of $235 ($135 initial bet, plus the $100 you get from the win).
