Good morning, friends. How does this glorious day find you? Smashingly well, I hope.
In case you missed it, your Houston Texans decided to spend their first draft pick of 2021 on a quarterback. Davis Mills is a Texan. I found it as curious a decision as you likely did, and there’ll be plenty of time to dissect it further soon enough. For now, I encourage you to check out Matt Waldman’s analysis of the Texans’ newest signal-caller.

Intriguing player. I think he's the best QB taken on this night.

Nick Caserio followed that bold move up by trading back into the third round to select Nico Collins. As befuddled as I am by Houston’s decision to draft Mills, I am equally intrigued by Caserio’s willingness to expend precious draft capital to move up for a wideout like Collins. I’d direct you to the scouting report on Collins by our pals at Maize N Brew for further edification on the topic of Houston’s newest wide receiver.
With that, here’s what the Texans are currently working with when it comes to Day Three of the 2021 NFL Draft:
Tomorrow the Texans have the following picks:
— Drew Dougherty (@DoughertyDrew) May 1, 2021
5th (147)
6th (195) from Patriots
6th (203) from Dolphins
6th (212) from Saints
7th (233) from Bengals
Sexy? No. But if Tom Brady went in the sixth round once upon a time, new math says Davis Mills, having been snagged in the third round, will be twice as good as Brady. You should discuss that and any other Texans thoughts in the space below before the fourth round kicks off at 11 a.m. CDT.
