Texans-Bears Inactives

If the Bears don’t have success throwing the ball today, it probably won’t because of Houston’s excellent cornerback play.

Entering the 2020 NFL season, we knew the Texans were thin at cornerback. Whether your understanding of the word “thin” is “putrid” or “unproven,” no matter; either will suffice.

Then two weeks ago, Bradley Roby got suspended for six games, meaning Vernon Hargreaves III (uh oh) and Phillip Gaines (screams) became Houston’s starting outside cornerback tandem. Friend, let me tell you...that was terrifying. But you know what’s even more chilling? That this afternoon in Chicago, the Texans will be starting a cornerback opposite VH3 (shrieks) that Anthony Weaver and D’Anton Lynn believe is not better than Phillip Gaines. And we can’t even hope that John Reid will be that player and the rookie out of Penn State will take advantage of the opportunity!

Your Houston Texans have seen an immense amount of ghastly cornerback play over the years. What we will see today at Soldier Field could well be the worst. Seriously, if Mitch Trubisky doesn’t finish with 250 yards passing purely by closing his eyes and flinging it seven yards down the field toward either sideline, he should ponder a career change.

With that harsh portent scarring your eyeballs, let’s take a look at who else won’t be suiting up for the Texans in Week 14.

With Brandin Cooks out, Keke Coutee and Chad Hansen are presumably WR1 and WR2 now. We’ll also finally (maybe?) get a look at Isaiah Coulter.

For their part, the Bears have decided these athletes should not dress today:

Anything you see here change your read on what’s about to go down at Soldier Field this afternoon?
