#Texans OLB Duke Ejiofor suffered a torn ACL at the end of practice, source said.— Mark Berman (@MarkBermanFox26) August 14, 2020
Texans outside linebacker Duke Ejiofor's hard luck continued Friday when he was diagnosed with a torn ACL after getting hurt at the end of practice, ending his season, according to league sources. The Alief Taylor graduate tore his Achilles tendon a year ago and missed the season— Aaron Wilson (@AaronWilson_NFL) August 14, 2020
Duke Ejiofor, a productive pass rusher out of Wake Forest, fell in the 2018 NFL Draft because of injury worries. After seeing limited snaps as a rookie, there was some hope that Ejiofor could develop into a rotational piece for the Texans in 2019. Unfortunately, he tore his Achilles before training camp began and spent his sophomore year on Injured Reserve. Now Ejiofor has torn his ACL, so he’ll have spent two out of his first three professional seasons on the shelf. That doesn’t bode well for his future in the NFL, and I can only imagine the frustration he feels.
Best of luck to Duke as he sets out on another grueling rehabilitation. The Texans’ pass rush needs just became a bit more pronounced. If only there was a veteran defensive end/outside linebacker with experience in Houston’s defense still available for hire...
