Nick Caserio is reportedly the Texans’ first choice to succeed Brian Gaine as general manager. Although the Texans asked the Patriots for permission to interview Caserio several days ago, the Pats haven’t granted that request. Ian Rapoport says New England wants to keep Caserio in the fold, and they’re pondering different ways to accomplish that goal.
From Inside Minicamp Live: The #Texans want to interview Nick Caserio, but the #Patriots don’t want him to go. What happens next will be fascinating. ... Plus, 5 of the top 6 rookie draft picks are unsigned. pic.twitter.com/Nmvmf7yUSw

Note that Rapoport mentioned the Texans could turn to Monti Ossenfort, New England’s Director of College Scouting, if they can’t land Caserio. Ossenfort has worked for the Texans before, so he presumably has some familiarity with the organization, albeit not with the Cal McNair-Bill O’Brien regime.
I don’t know about you, but I’m becoming increasingly of the mind that Nick Caserio ain’t leaving New England for Houston. Who do you think ends up becoming the fourth general manager in franchise history?
UPDATE: The Patriots have filed tampering charges against the Texans for their attempt to recruit Nick Caserio. Intrigue!
