Nick Caserio works for the New England Patriots. Your Houston Texans allegedly want to hire Nick Caserio as their new general manager. The Patriots do not want Nick Caserio to leave New England to be Houston’s new general manager, and they have now accused the Texans of violating league rules.
The Patriots filed tampering charges Wednesday against the Houston Texans for the attempted general manager hire of Nick Caserio, league sources told ESPN.

The NFL now is expected to gather relevant informant to open its investigation against Houston, per sources.
The NFL’s anti-tampering policy states, “Any interference by a member club with the employer-employee relationship of another club or any attempt by a club to impermissibly induce a person to seek employment with that club or with the NFL” is impermissible.

The #Texans firing GM Brian Gaine the night after the #Patriots ring ceremony set off some alarm bells. Now, it’s on the league to look into the situation and make a ruling before Houston proceeds.

Delightful. It appears that if the Texans are truly intent on hiring Caserio, they’ll have to wait until the NFL investigates and opines on whether the Texans did in fact tamper with the Patriots’ employer-employee relationship with Caserio.
Sadly, surely there will be more on this to come. Heaven forbid Texans fans get treated to any sort of smooth transition here.
