Houston Texans Release First Unofficial Depth Chart Of Preseason

New, comments

Take it for what it’s worth.

NFL Combine - Day 1

This week, NFL teams around the country released their depth charts ahead of their first preseason games. The Texans did the same before they play the Packers tonight at 7 p.m.

The depth chart has some surprises. The offensive line is one of those snakes in a can. Senio Kelemete is listed as the starting left guard. Matt Kalil and Seantrel Henderson are the starting tackles. But most importantly, Tytus Howard, and Max Scharping are listed as “others,” below even the third team. Who knows when and where they will play tonight?

I can’t wait to see Julie’n Davenport and Martinas Rankin hold down the left side. I’ve been waiting my whole life for that. Buddy Howell is also the current RB2, at least before Duke Johnson officially joins the roster. Jordan Thomas and Jordan Akins are sharing time at TE1.

Here’s the offensive depth chart:

The Texans’ defense is what you would expect. The team is still running a 3-4. Jadeveon Clowney is a starter in spirit. And like the other rookies, Lonnie Johnson is buried as an “other.” Bill O’Brien really knows how to motivate his players. I don’t care where you were drafted! You have to earn your right to be here!

In a similar vein, the special teams depth chart is what you would expect. I won’t sleep easy until Week One is officially Trevor Daniel season again.

We’ll be back when Countdown to Kickoff posts at 3 p.m.
