Long snapper Jon Weeks holds the Texans’ record for most games played in franchise history. That record will not be extended in 2021, as the team informed Weeks that they will not be bringing him back for a twelfth season.
Texans veteran Jon Weeks, who never had a bad snap in 11 years with the team, was told today he wouldn't be re-signed. His contract expires. He plans to continue playing.

While the departure of the long snapper is unlikely to raise the ire that the impending departure of the young franchise quarterback will, it’s noteworthy whenever someone leaves a job they’ve had for more than a decade. Weeks was very good for a very long time in Houston, and it’ll be weird to see someone else out there snapping on punts and field goals. Best of luck to him as he looks to continue his NFL career in a new city.
