Usually the defending Super Bowl champs would start the 2019 season on Thursday night, but with the NFL wanting a more traditional rivalry to kick off the centennial season of the NFL, they pushed the Patriots to Sunday Night Football to get their rings. The ceremony celebrating the defending champions will take place before kickoff.
The last time we saw the Patriots, they cruised to a mellow 13-3 win in Super Bowl LIII against the Rams. It was the final game of a five-game win streak at the end of the season that culminated in a title. The last time the Patriots lost? December 16th. A Week 15 loss to... the Pittsburgh Steelers, tonight’s opponent.
The Steelers begin their 2019 as the first season of the fhe post-Antonio Brown era. Pittsburgh is a new-look squad, but they are still a threat like they have always been, and they should give New England a run for their money tonight.
