Taking The Pulse: Texans Fans Are Not Sanguine About The Franchise Right Now

New, comments

Was this post done entirely to use the word “sanguine” in a headline? I’ll never tell.

At least this family is confident. I think.

While Texans fans are by and large excited about the imminent arrival of football season, it seems a majority (at least among those who voted, which you can do next time by joining the party here) are markedly less enthused about the team’s chances in 2019. Distress seems to have peaked after what has to be considered a disappointing performance by the organization in free agency, though fan confidence rebounded as the 2019 NFL Draft approached, only for it to dip again in the wake of the draft. Now here we are, face to face, a couple of silver spoons, one week into the preseason, and we’re still not enthused:

Does this reflect a lack of faith in Bill O’Brien? Or the troubling absence of a general manager? Or bitterness about how the team is handling Jadeveon Clowney? Or fear of how Deshaun Watson will be massacred behind a subpar offensive line?

In full anticipation that the first comment below will be from a smart aleck who quotes the paragraph above and responds with “Yes,” I’ll turn the conversation over to you fine people. Pipe up with your thoughts.
