2021 Houston Texans Game Day Live: Texans vs. Browns

2-0? Or 1-1? We’ll find out soon enough.

Your undefeated Houston Texans are about to square off against the winless Cleveland Browns. In years past, that might not be an unusual statement if it was made in the early part of the NFL season. This year, however, is not like most years. The Texans were (are?) widely considered to be the worst team in the league, whereas the Browns are thought to be a likely playoff participant and perhaps even a dark horse to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. The Browns are accordingly double-digit favorites in today’s contest and should easily dispatch the Texans, no matter what happened last week.

But you know what? That’s why they play the games. The Texans and Browns will decide what narrative should control moving forward.

Last week, I embedded a Joe Diffie video in the first game thread. The Texans responded by looking like a legitimate professional football team and thrashed the Jaguars. Have I inadvertently stumbled upon a talisman of sorts? There’s only one way to find out. Dim the lights and lock the door, friends.

By popular request, we’re not going to post separate threads for the second, third, or fourth quarters. If the number of comments merits it, we’ll add a thread, but the plan for now is to keep all in-game commentary contained to this post.

It’s time for the Texans’ second game of the 2021 regular season. Let us do this.

NOTE: Please do not post any images, videos, GIFs, or non-text comments in any of BRB’s live game threads. They tend to slow the thread down and can take a long time to load. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

NOTE II: Due to the fast-paced nature of these threads, there will be no warnings before bans on game day. If a moderator deems a comment or user to be problematic, he or she will remove that person from the discussion for the good of the collective game day experience. If you’re on the wrong side of the law today and want your posting privileges reinstated, please send an e-mail to one of us tomorrow.

NOTE III: Please refrain from any reference to or mention of any religion or religious figure, even if you believe it’s celebratory or inoffensive. If you make such a reference or comment, it will be deleted and you will be warned. Two violations of this rule will result in a ban.
